Barnum & Bailey merge magic with traditional circus arts
for the new production Zing Zang
Zoom, coming to the Frank Erwin
Center from August 18th through 22nd. One hour before
show time, families can join Ringling Bros. athletic performers
in to learn circus skills and meet the circus stars during a
free pre-show.
The latest version of
"The Greatest Show On Earth" features
"Zingmaster" Alex and his assistant - the alluring
Levitytia - lead audiences through a kaleidoscope of color and
imagery revealing that celebrates the uplifting spirit of the
circus - and wards off a cynical Mr. Gravity and his team of
"heavies" who try to bring everyone down.
Apprentice illusionists levitate their parents with a wave of a
wand, and the circus is - literally - turned upside down.
A four-ton elephant
magically disappears, and a gravity-inducing nemesis transforms
across species into a ferocious tiger. Two female human
cannonballs are blasted through the air, then the dangerous
Double Wheel of Steel and soaring gigantic swings defy gravity.
The array of exotic animals
includes a herd of Asian elephants, Bengal tigers, and Arabian
and Friesian horses. The join the human performers to
create an experience designed to delight "Children of All
Ages."
Performances run
August 18th, 19th and 20th at 7:30 p.m.; August 21st at 11:30
a.m., 3:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.; and August 22nd at 2 p.m. and 6
p.m. Tickets are $15, $25, $35 VIP, $60 VIP Gold and $80
Circus Celebrity. All tickets are $10 on Opening Night,
and U.T. students, faculty and staff and save $4 on tickets
with valid ID on all performances - except Opening Night - at
the Frank Erwin Center box office.
