Melissa Etheridge
Texas Performing Arts
August 2nd
Bass Concert Hall

Easily one of the greatest all-time female rock icons, Melissa Etheridge is also a mother, a cancer survivor - and an outspoken cultural, political and human rights activist. With the recent release of her album Fearless Love, Ethridge and her band come to Bass Concert Hall on Monday, August 2nd, performing at 8 p.m.
Since 1988, Etheridge has written and recorded a stable of hits that include "Bring Me Some Water," "Ain't it Heavy," "I'm the Only One," "Come to My Window," "I Want to Come Over," "Angels Would Fall," "I Run for Life" and "I Need to Wake Up."  Her songs have earned her five platinum albums - including the multi-platinum sets Melissa Etheridge, Your Little Secret and the six-million-selling Yes I Am - a pair of Grammy Awards, an Oscar, an ASCAP Songwriter of the Year honor, and the ASCAP Founders Award.
Her tenth and latest studio album, Fearless Love, arrives two and a half years after her autobiographical The Awakening and six years after her battle with breast cancer.  With the appearance of mandolin and more piano - and guest vocals from Joss Stone and Natasha Bedingfield - Fearless Love offers both pounding rock songs and whisper-light ballads.  Etheridge's live Austin show will incorporate classic fan favorites and songs from the new album.
Tickets go on sale at noon on Friday, May 14th at all Texas Box Office outlets - including most H.E.B. stores - by phone at (512) 477-6060 or (800) 982-BEVO, and online at www.TexasPerformingArts.org.
