Madea’s Big Happy Family - CANCELED
November 3rd
The Frank Erwin Center

UPDATE: Following a total of 164 performances on an aggressive tour nationwide, plus two movies and two DVD tapings this year, actor and playwright Tyler Perry has canceled the remaining tour dates.  Refurnds are available at the point of purchase and the Frank Erwin Center Red River Street box office.

Actor and playwright Tyler Perry returns to the Frank Erwin Center with his latest hit stage play, Madea's Big Happy Family.  Continuing its history-making run across the country, the production plays Austin on November 3rd at 7:30 p.m. for one show only.
Perry wrote, directed, produced and stars in the title role.   The story focuses on a middle-aged single mother named Miss Shirley - performed on stage by Chandra Currelley-Young - who has just received a diagnosis of terminal cancer. With the help of Madea, she assembles her grown children, and their significant others, for one final reunion - during which loyalties are tested and unpleasant truths are spilled.
Perry's stage productions quickly became the first of their kind within the urban play circuit to perform and sell out arenas - where typically only multi-platinum selling rock, pop and R&B concerts perform.  Now 10 years later and with 12 plays, nine movies, two television shows and a book to his credit - the multi-millionaire media mogul Perry continues to produce touring live theatre.
In addition to Perry himself, Madea's Big Happy Family features the talents of some of his most notable fan favorites, including Cassi Davis and Palmer Williams, Jr. of "House of Payne," R&B singing sensation Cheryl "Pepsii" Riley and actress/singer Chandra Currelley-Young.  The first leg of the tour kicked off in January 2010 and toured through Mother's Day, selling out shows from coast to coast.
Tickets are $52 and $62, and go on sale Friday, June 25th, at 10 a.m. at all Texas Box Office outlets including select H-E-B stores.  Tickets are also available by phone at (512) 477-6060 or 1-800-982-2386, or online at www.TexasBoxOffice.com.
