Big Sing
Conspirare’s Company of Voices
May 17th
St. Martin’s Lutheran Church

Conspirare's popular, free community outreach event, "Big Sing" - where the audience is the choir - returns for its third time this season on May 17th, starting at 6 p.m.  Conspirare artistic director Craig Hella Johnson will lead the gathering in song at the St. Martin’s Lutheran Church.
Johnson will instruct the gathering in breathing exercises, vocal warm-ups, and short, melodic songs that can be easily learned without reading music.  As musical hosts, Conspirare Symphonic Choir members will sit among the audience, to sing along and provide musical support and encouragement during the one-hour event.
Conspirare's previous "Big Sing" events each attracted more than 300 participants.  By popular demand, Conspirare expanded its "Big Sing" performances from two to three events this season.
The Big Sing is open to all, regardless of musical training and experience.  Through a fun, no-pressure group singing program, audience members learn basic vocal technique and sing as one with hundreds of others.  Musical selections at Big Sings range from popular rounds, spirituals and Beatles songs to the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah.  Johnson hand-picks songs for each Big Sing to “delight, thrill, and sometimes challenge the singing audience, always with remarkably beautiful and inspirational results,” he said.
Admission to the event is free, and no reservations are necessary.  St. Martin’s Lutheran Church is located at 606 W. 15th Street.  For more information, call (512) 476-5775 or visit www.Conspirare.org.
