The Penfold Theatre Company marks the debut of their move to Round Rock with a free production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). The two-year-old theatre group presents the free park performance - in partnership with the City of Round Rock - from August 5th through 22nd.

The production marks Penfold Theatre Company's first staging for the area it hopes to develop as its long-term home - the neighborhoods of North Austin, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park and Leander. After two award-winning seasons in downtown Austin, the company plans to move north, through a partnership with the City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department - as well as help from its newly expanded Board of Directors, which includes leaders from the Round Rock City Council, Round Rock and Pflugerville ISDs, Greater Round Rock Area Arts Council, and other leading organizations.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) also launches Penfold's 2010-11 season. Additional planned productions include Going with Jenny and The Lion in Winter, as well as a new class series to launch in October.

In the upcoming free production, three actors compress the complete cannon of Shakespeare into 90 minutes of high-speed, over-the-top staging. Adapted by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, the Penfold production is directed by Beth Burns and features Ryan Crowder, Judd Farris and Nathan Jerkins.

Performances run Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., with a special encore performance on August 22nd at 6 p.m. Audiences are invited to bring a blanket and picnic for the pre-show entertainment, with guest artists that will include the Round Rock Symphony, Round Rock Community Choir, the Baron's Men, and more.
