Civilization (All You Can Eat)
February 16th through March 3rd
Salvage Vanguard Theatre

Salvage Vanguard Theater will join with Whooly Mammouth Theatre Company in Washington, DC, to premiere the new play Civilization (All You Can Eat).  The new work by Jason Grote will run February 16th through March 3rd at Salvage Vanguard Theater.
Set against the 2008 Barrack Obama presidential campaign, the dark comedy explores the lives of seven city dwellers looking for more from their lives. A frustrated filmmaker, suicidal comic, career waitress, amateur porn star, failed academic, fame-hungry actress and feral factory hog all pass under the gaze of an indifferent universe.
Originally commissioned by OBIE award-wining Clubbed Thumb, Civilization (All You Can Eat) was produced as part of Summerworks 2011 and is simultaneously premiering at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company and Salvage Vanguard Theatre.  Playwright Grote experienced national success with his play 1001, and his play Hamilton Township had its world premiere at Salvage Vanguard Theatre in 2008.
Directed by Jenny Larson, the Austin production features Florinda Bryant, Michael Joplin, Heather Hanna, Gricelda Silva, Mical Trejo, Annie La Ganga and Jude Hickey.  Connor Hopkins provides the set design, with lighting design by Stephen Pruitt, costume design by Pam Fletcher-Friday, sound design by Jeff Mills, video by Lee Webster and movement by Adriene Mishler.
Performances run Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m.  Tickets are $15 for general admission, and Thursday performances are "Pay-What-You-Can"
The Salvage Vanguard Theatre is located at 2803 E. Manor Road.  For reservations and more information, call (512) 474- SVT6 (7886) or visit www.SalvageVanguard.org.
