At the ColdTowne Theater's fifth anniversary awards show last month, the community of improvisational comedy troupes that has exponentially-swelled in the last two years saw the award for "Outstanding New Troupe" result in a tie between two ColdTowne ensembles: Scout and The Team. Both troupes garnered the popular vote, so ColdTowne Artistic Director Joshua Krilov booked the two groups for a month-long run of Social Hour shows on Thursdays in January.

Every Thursday in January, the theater will open 30 minutes prior showtime at 8 p.m., allowing audiences will enjoy free Lone Star beer, snacks and an atmosphere "fit for a swinging soiree in the deep, dark 1970s," show producers said. The Social Hour's host - comic Mac Blake - will set the evening's tone at 8:30 p.m. with a short set of stand-up comedy and introductions of the host troupes. Both Scout and The Team will then take the stage for an hour of physically-demanding improvised long-form comedy - "with a brief intermission of surprise proportions," producers assured.
