Sam Bass Theatre New Season Includes Shakespeare, Steel Magnolias, More

Round Rock's Sam Bass Community Theatre launches their 30th anniversary season this year, including the debut of an original production.  The 2010 - 2011 season of performances includes "a little bit of everything," producers said.
Inspector Pratt returns to Bagshot Manor in the season opener, Seconday Cause of Death, and directed by Lynn Beaver.  Playing September 24th through October 16th, the murder mystery by playwright Peter Gordon provides a follow-up to the theatre's hit production of last season - Murdered to Death - which earned two Applause Awards from

The holiday season brings Dashing Through the Snow, running December 3rd through 23rd.  Andy Brown directs the regional premiere of the show from the team of Jones, Hope and Wooten - who created last season's popular  Christmas Belles and The Dixie Swim Club.
Olin Meadows directs the Southern classic Steel Magnolias, by Robert Harling, for a revisit to Truvy’s Beauty Salon on January 28th through February 19th, 2011.   Then an eccentric troupe of commedia dell'arte actors are commissioned to improvise the History of Man - from the Garden of Eden to the Voyage of Odysseus - as they battle one another for the spotlight in George Herman's A Company of Wayward Saints, directed by Veronica Prior and running March 25th through April 16th, 2011.
Frank Benge directs the Sam Bass original production The Tempest Project, running May 20th through June 11th, 2011.  The season concludes with the Youth Guild comedy productions of Macbeth the Musical Comedy and Shakespeare Unshackled, directed by Megan Henderson and Bailey Vick, and running July 22nd through August 13th.
Season tickets - which offer packets of six pack of tickets for the price of five - are available for $75 per person, and $65 for seniors and students.  Tickets may be used for any combination of shows in the new season, but must be used for at least two of our six individual productions.
The Sam Bass Community Theatre is located at 600 Lee Street in Round Rock's Memorial Park.  For more information and reservations, call (512) 300-9254 or visit www.SamBassTheatre.org.
