The Intergalactic Nemesis Launches Live-Action Gowalla Trip Challenge

The cult hit serial radio play The Intergalactic Nemesis - which will be staged in its entirety at The Long Center during the Labor Day - has devised The Live-Action Gowalla Trip Spectacular Challenge to give Austinites a taste of the show's characters and plotline. Starting on Sunday, July 25th, fans can use the location-based social media smart phone app, Gowalla, then visit and "check-in" at nine locations around the city for a chance to win a

prize package valued at more than $300.

Each check-in location is relevant to a plotline or character in The Intergalactic Nemesis story. Originally created in 1996 as a radio drama inspired by Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and the classic pulp serials, the premise for The Intergalactic Nemesis follows Pulitzer-winning reporter Molly Sloan and her intrepid assistant Timmy Mendez.

Set in 1933, the pair have stumbled across a series of murders foiled by a mysterious librarian from Flagstaff named Ben Wilcott. The three heroes trek across Europe, North Africa, and beyond to thwart world-famous mesmerist Mysterion the Magni?cent and what turns out to be an invasion of sludge-monsters from the planet Zygon.

Written by Jason Neulander, the story has been serialized in a set of graphic novels, with artwork by Tim Doyle. The entire radio play will be performed on The Long Center stage on September 3th and 4th by three actors recreating the serial live - with live sound effects created by Buzz Moran the original score performed by Graham Reynolds - while more than 1,000 hand-illustrated comic book artwork images project panel-by-panel on a 42-foot by 24-foot screen.

Challenge participants can download and register for the free Gowalla smart phone app - from the Austin-based company - by visiting www.Gowalla.com. After downloading the Gowalla app, go to "Browse Trips" then search for The Intergalactic Nemesis in "Nearby Trips" - or "friend" The Intergalactic Nemesis to see the trip. Search "Nearby Spots" and click the "Check-In" button as each location is visited in order to be entered into the contest.
