Dates Set for 2011 Texas Medal of Arts Award Ceremony and Parties

     The Texas Cultural Trust has announced the dates for the 2011 Texas Medal of Arts Award ceremony and parties.  The 2011 recipients will be announced at a later date.
    The Texas Medal of Arts Award remains the signature event for the Texas Cultural Trust Council, which spotlights the creative talents and contributions by Texans in the arts.  The Awards recognize Texas citizens who have achieved greatness through their artistic endeavors and those who have used their philanthropic generosity to open doors of artistic

opportunities for Texans of all ages.
     The 2011 events kick off on Monday, February 28th, at 6 p.m. with the VIP Legislative Reception in the new Visual Arts Center at the University of Texas.  The event will be hosted by honorary co-chairs Governor and Mrs. Rick Perry, Lt. Governor and Mrs. David Dewhurst, and Speaker of the House and Mrs. Joe Straus, III.
     On Tuesday, March 1st, the day begins with the "Stars of Texas Brunch," hosted by First Lady Anita Perry.  The exclusive event at the historic Pease Mansion is reserved for donors contributing $25,000 or more.  The Gala Dinner follows that evening at The Long Center, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
     The formal Texas Medal of Arts Awards Show then takes the Dell Hall stage at 8 p.m.  The ceremony is followed by the Starlight After Party, beginning at 10 p.m.
