An active performer, musical director, stage director, professor and composer on the Austin theatre scene for more than 18 years, McKelvey left Austin this past summer to become the Head of Voice at Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Together with Ginger Morris, McKelvey founded SummerStock Austin in 2005, and he served as Director of Musical Theatre at St. Edward's University, where he also created the Spotlight on Opera year-round training program.
In addition to directing Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, McKelvey will again oversee the SummerStock Austin program this year for its 8th season, and assist Zilker Theatre Productions in staging the 54th annual Zilker Summer Musical when the hills will be alive with The Sound of Music.
Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is billed as "an exhilarating and white-knuckled look at one of our nation's founding rock stars."  The musical recreates - and reinvents - the life of "Old Hickory," from his humble beginnings on the Tennessee frontier to his days as the nation's seventh Commander-in-Chief.
Auditions will be held on Sunday, February 12th, from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.  Complete audition and performance information is available at http: //www.facebook.com/pages/Doctuh-Mistuh-Productions/315906921765079.
