A Little Night Music
February 19th through March 14th
The Palace Theatre

The Palace Theatre in Historic Georgetown revives one of Broadway’s most neglected masterpieces, the romantic and achingly beautiful A Little Night Music.  The musical plays February 19th through March 14th
With music and lyrics by Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim - and a book by Hugh Wheeler - A Little Night Music deals with the universal subject of love, in all its wondrous, humorous and ironic forms.  Inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night, the musical involves the romantic lives of several couples, and includes the Broadway standard “Send In the Clowns.”
In turn-of-the-century Sweden, middle-aged Fredrik Egerman brings his 18-year-old bride Anne to a play starring his former mistress, Desirée Armfeldt.  Soon, Fredrik and Desirée resume their romance, incurring the wrath of her current lover, a pompous Count.
The situation culminates in a weekend at a country estate, with Fredrik, Anne, Desirée and the Count in attendance.  Adding to the complications are Fredrik’s son - who is hopelessly in love with Anne - Desirée’s illegitimate daughter, the Count’s manic-depressive wife, and the Egerman’s lusty maid.  Under the summer night, things are finally set right.
Performances run weekends from February 19th through March 14th.  Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $22 for general admission, $20 for seniors, $12 for students and active military, and $8 for children aged 15 and younger.
The Palace Theatre - located at 810 South Austin Avenue in downtown Georgetown, one half-block off the Square - seats about 295, with reserved seating included in each ticket price.  For more information and reservations, call (512) 869-7469 or (512) 869-5081, or visit www.TheGeorgetownPalace.org.
