Whitacre & Lewis: New Year's Special

    While performing the Southwestern United States premiere of Path of Miracles by British composer Joby Talbot, The Grammy-nominated, Austin-based professional choir Conspirare will also perform Whitacre & Lewis: New Year's Special for one afternoon at St. Martin's Lutheran on January 21st at 5 p.m.
     The one-hour concert features celebrated American composer Eric Whitacre's most popular choral works, plus the United States premieres of two brand-new Whitacre compositions.  The concert also features the world premiere of The Changing Light by Peter Scott Lewis, based on poetry of Lawrence Ferlinghetti and written for Conspirare.
     Whitacre is one of the most popular and performed composers of his generation, and his works have entered the standard choral and symphonic repertories and have been the subject of several scholarly works and doctoral dissertations.  Lewis is an internationally active composer of orchestral, chamber, and choral music, whose works have been commissioned and/or performed by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Orion, Alexander, and Ciompi String Quartets, Dorian Wind Quintet, San Francisco Symphony and others.
