Originally from Honduras, Mencia's stand-up comedy career began on amateur night at The Laugh Factory, and he then became a regular at The Comedy Store - both in Los Angeles.  This led to appearances on "The Arsenio Hall Show" and "Buscando Estrellas" - where he attained the title "International Comedy Grand Champion" and the hosting role on HBO's Latino comedy showcase "Loco Slam."
In 2005, Comedy Central launched the comedy show "Mind of Mencia", a mix of sketch comedy and Mencia's stand-up comedy. After a moderate first season, "Mind of Mencia" became the second highest rated program on Comedy Central, after "South Park."  The program was brought back for a third season - and final - season.
Mencia continues to perform in television and film roles, in addition to his stand-up tours.  He also guests on the Opie and Anthony radio show on XM Satellite Radio and CBS Radio.
The Cap City Comedy Club is located at 8120 Research Blvd.  Tickets for the Austin tour stop are available by calling (512) 467-2333 or online at www.CapCityComedy.com.
