       Every winter, groups around the globe sit down to a time-honored celebration that recognizes the works and life of Scotland's National Bard, Robert Burns.  The evening, known as a "Burns Supper," includes speeches reverent and irreverent - if done correctly -plus music, poems and fun.
      The Texas Highlanders will host their version of the annual soiree is presented at the Crowne Plaza Ballroom on Saturday, February 4th.  The "adults only" will feature the traditional meal and entertainment that makes the cultural event memorable.
     The plated banquet will feature poetry, music and commentary by Robert Burns as presented by expert speakers. Deadliest Warrior's Aftermath member and Scottish weapons historian, Kieron Elliott, will serve as emcee, with music by Ed Miller, Jeff Moore and Jeffrey Jones Ragona.
     The dinner menu includes cock-a-leekie soup, steak pie and haggis, "neeps and tatties" and Scotch trifle for dessert.  As per tradition, the haggis will be brought into the dining room, led by a piper - The Silver Thistle's Ken Liechti.  The adulation will also include a hearty recitation of Burns' "Address to the Haggis."
     Seating begins at 6: 30 p.m., with the events starting promptly at 7 p.m.  Advance tickets are $35 per person until January 15th, and $40 after.  Only 500 tickets will be sold.
