Boeing- Boeing
January 27th through February 26th
Austin Playhouse

Austin Playhouse stages the fast-paced modern farce Boeing-Boeing by Marc Camoletti and adapted by Beverley Cross.  Created by the playwright of the Austin Playhouse 2007 hit comedy Don't Dress for Dinner, the production runs January 27th through February 26th at the theatre's temporary performance space in the Mueller Austin Redevelopment.
Boeing-Boeing follows Bernard, an English architect and swinging bachelor in 1960s living in 1960s Paris.  When his old school friend, Robert, comes to visit, Bernard reveals the secret to his ideal bachelor living: he's engaged to three beautiful women, all international flight attendants.  He is able to keep "one up, one down and one pending" until unexpected schedule changes bring all three women to Bernard's apartment at the same time.  His fine-tuned plans turn to chaos with bad weather and the introduction of a faster Boeing jet.
The English language adaptation of Boeing-Boeing was first staged in London in 1962 and ran for a total of seven years. In 1991, the play was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most performed French play throughout the world.  Recently, Matthew Warchus directed an acclaimed 2008 Broadway production, which won both the Tony Awards and Drama Desk Award for "Best Revival of a Play" and nabbed a "Best Lead Actor" Tony Award for Mark Rylance.
The Austin Playhouse staging features David Stokey (Laughter on the 23rd Floor) as "Bernard" and Zach Thompson (The Night Hank Williams Died) as "Robert," with Lara Toner (Misalliance), Hildreth England (Stop the World I Want to Get Off!) and Laura Walberg (The Mousetrap) as the three flight attendants.  Bernadette Nason (Blithe Spirit) plays Bernard's housekeeper, "Bertha."  Austin Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Don Toner directs the production, with costume design is by Buffy Manners, set design by Jessica Colley-Mitchell, sound design by The Gunn Brothers and lighting design by Don Day.
Performances run Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m.  Tickets are $26 on Thursday and Friday, $28 on Saturday and Sunday, and $35 for opening night.  A special Valentine's Day performance on February 14th will include a dessert reception; tickets are $40 tickets per person or $70 for couples.
Austin Playhouse is currently performing at 1800 ½ Simond Avenue in a temporary facility in the Mueller Austin Redevelopment - just west of the theatre's planned building site for their new permanent home.   The Aldrich Street entrance off Airport Blvd. leads directly to the temporary facility, and free patron parking is available along Simond Avenue and Mueller Blvd., as well as in the SEDL parking lot located two blocks north of the facility on Mueller Blvd.
