Conspirare's Popular “Big Sing” Community Event Returns on February 23rd

Conspirare's popular, free community outreach event, "Big Sing" - where the audience is the choir - returns on Thursday, February 23rd.  Conspirare artistic director Craig Hella Johnson will lead the gathering in song at the Northwest Hills United Methodist Church.

Johnson will instruct the gathering in breathing exercises, vocal warm-ups, and short, melodic songs that can be easily learned without reading music.  Conspirare Symphonic Choir members will sit among the audience, to sing along and provide musical support and encouragement during the one-hour event.
Conspirare's previous "Big Sing" events each attracted more than three hundred participants.  Organizers said that audience feedback was so overwhelmingly positive that they decided to bring back the community event.
By popular demand, Conspirare is expanding its "Big Sing" performances from two to three events this season.  The Janaury "Big Sing" will be followed by a second event on May 17th, hosted in a different area of the city.   Organizers said the “Big Sing” is open to all members of the community, regardless of musical training and experience.
Conspirare organizers noted that "people from every walk of life can learn basic vocal technique, experience the body as an instrument, and sing as one with hundreds of others."  Admission to the event is free, and no reservations are necessary, with the event beginning at 6 p.m.
Northwest Hills United Methodist Church is located at 7050 Village Center Drive.  For more information, call (512) 476-5775 or visit www.Conspirare.org.
