Aladdin
July 10th through August 29th
Scottish Rite Children’s Theatre

The Scottish Rite Children's Theatre brings back their original children's play Aladdin for a summer run.  Written by D. H. Thompson and based on the classic tale, the production plays July 10th through August 29th.
Magic carpets, genies and wishes abound in the new adaptation of the classic tale of Aladdin. A lovely princess must avoid the trickery of the pesky Jafar, who hopes to marry her. In an effort to get his way, Jafar visits the Cave of Wonders to gain assistance from the Genie who lives in a magic lamp. But all things go awry when young Aladdin finds the lamp first and reveals its secrets.
Directed by Erin Molson, the production is designed for children ages three to ten years of age.  Performances are held in the historic Scottish Rite Temple downtown, taking advantage of the majestic sets and backdrops that were created in 1869.
Performances run Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m.  Special weekday performances will be offered on Wednesday, August 4th, and Thursday, August 5th at 10:30 a.m.  Tickets are $8 for children (ages 1-12), $10 for adults, and $4 for infants under one year of age.
The Scottish Rite Theatre is located at 207 West 18th Street.  For more information and tickets, call (512) 472-5436 or visit www.SRCT.org.
