Alma Thomas Theater

The Austin Civic Orchestra heads up IH-35 for "Encore Georgetown! A Classical Evening with the Austin Civic Orchestra" on Saturday, February 4th, at 7:30 p.m. in Southwestern University's Alma Thomas Theater.  Under the direction of Dr. Lois Ferrari, the concert features guest percussionist Thomas Burritt and a program of works by Ewazen, Beethoven, Rimsky-Korsakov and Amran.
In addition to Ewazen's fanciful "Concerto for Marimba" - featuring guest percussionist Burritt - the winds and percussion sections will be featured in David Amran's jazz-inspired "King Lear Variations."  The orchestra will also perform Beethoven's intense "Symphony #7" and Rimsky-Korsakov's festive "Capriccio Espagnol."
Tickets are $12 for the general admission; $10 for seniors, and military, students; and $5 for children 11 and under.  Southwestern University faculty, staff and students will be admitted free.
The Alma Thomas Theater is located at 1001 East University Avenue on the campus of Southwestern University in Georgetown.  For more information and advance tickets, call (512) 200-ACO1 (2261) or visit www.AustinCivicOrchestra.org.
